On April 15, Clear Springs Elementary in Minnetonka, MN hosted a packing event. For an hour and a half 90+ volunteers packed 90 boxes of food containing rice, soy, vegetables and vitamins. Families with children of all ages participated in what has become a much-anticipated annual event at Clear Springs Curt Carpenter, Clear Springs Principal made it an exciting event by involving the children present to provide updates on the boxes packed throughout the evening. Pemphero Chiwaya, who is visiting the US from Malawi, also participated in the event. In Malawi, Pemphero has been on the receiving end of these meals and wanted to experience first-hand what was involved in packing the meals. Each box contains 36 bags, and each bag contains 6 servings. In total the Clear Springs volunteers packed 19,440 meals. All of which were funded by the Clear Springs PTO.
