Individual Opportunities

Individual volunteers are always welcome at Kids Against Hunger - West Metro

Want to lend a hand? There are lots of ways to help.

Pack meals at a mini meal packing event

You will package the meals we send to families in need. We hold packing events through out the year: view our upcoming meal packing events

Be a team leader / station helper at a packing event

We need Team Leaders to oversee each packaging event. We have at least two Team Leaders at each event and more if we have a larger group. Volunteering requires about three hours of time: a half hour to set up, two hours of packaging, and a half hour for take down. You are expected to work no more than once a month or, more likely, every six weeks. No experience necessary as training is also provided.

Volunteer “behind the scenes”

Do you have a special talent or skill such as photography, accounting, visual design, etc.? Let us know! We will see how we can use them to benefit the organization. Here are a few more particular volunteer positions we're looking to fill:

Chairman of the Board

We are looking for a new chair or co-chairs. This role is the principal officer of our non-profit corporation. In conjunction with the Board, the Chair leads board meetings, sees that the resolutions and directives of the Board are carried out, and empowers others to fulfill their roles.  These efforts support our mission to educate, especially our youth, on hunger issues around the world and provide life-saving meals to those in need.  Talk with Trina Volbrecht and Chris Anderson, our interim co-chairs...or drop us a note at contact us.

Board Member

We are actively looking for people like yourself who would love to join our board. We welcome you ideas and support as part of our board.  Responsibilities include participating in  monthly board meetings (most months of the year) and at least two-to-three packing events a year.  This position is perfect for anyone who cares about hunger issues and has a desire to make a difference.

Fundraising Coordinator Assistant

Assist the Fundraiser Coordinator managing fundraising activities, building relationships with donors, maintaining donor records, and thanking all donors for their contributions. Bonus points if you can write grants and solicit additional sponsors.

Loading/Unloading Assistant

Requires strength for pushing heavy pallets and lifting of 50 lb bags. Work with Truck Guy during product pick ups and finished product drop offs at Stewart, St. Paul, and Costco. Help with unloading product into the storeroom at Mount Calvary. Help with loading product and equipment from storeroom to truck before mobile events. Help with loading and unloading at mobile events. Help with unloading equipment and remaining product after mobile events.
